Role Summary

The Policy Officer leads the development and execution of AWL’s policy and advocacy agenda, ensuring campaigns are backed by strong research, legislative strategy, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement national animal welfare policy strategies and action plans

  • Draft policy briefs, petitions, position papers, and legislative proposals

  • Provide policy analysis and risk assessments for advocacy campaigns

  • Engage policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders to reform animal protection

  • Monitor animal welfare laws and regulatory frameworks

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, or related field

  • 3–5+ years experience in policy, advocacy, or public affairs

  • Strong understanding of legislative and policy processes in Ghana

  • Excellent writing, research, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience in animal welfare or NGO advocacy (preferred)

Compensation

Gross pay of USD 560 per month
