See the hotels that care
The Hospitality with Heart Awards is an initiative to recognise hotels that are raising the standard of care in Ghana. The award scheme celebrates hotels that are actively and genuinely expanding their scope of comfort beyond their facilities and guests to animal welfare and the layer hens that provide the eggs they serve their guests. The award ranking specifically assesses hotels' efforts to eliminate the confinement of laying hens in cage systems within their egg supply chains.
Why This Matters
Since the launch of the first Hotel Benchmark Ranking in 2025, Animal Welfare League has been leading efforts to improve transparency and accelerate the transition to cage-free egg sourcing across the hospitality sector. Hotels in Ghana are making significant improvements in ethical sourcing, helping guests make informed choices and encouraging the hospitality sector to embrace humane and sustainable practices. The awards provide an accountability framework for the hospitality industry, enabling businesses to benchmark their progress and align with growing consumer expectations for ethical sourcing. Rankings are based on Animal Welfare League's engagement with hotels and publicly available information, including sustainability reports and corporate disclosures on the use of cage-free eggs in Ghana.
Hotels featured here have been selected based on their Google ratings, national popularity, and a minimum classification of three stars by the Ghana Tourism Authority.

Benchmark Ranking
Champion of Compassion
For hotels with strong, public cage-free commitments that have successfully completed their transition to 100% cage-free eggs.
These hotels are setting the standard for responsible hospitality in Ghana. By putting care for animals alongside quality, guest experience, and social responsibility, they show that meaningful leadership goes beyond the guest stay. They are proving that a more compassionate hospitality sector is possible, and helping lead the way.
Rising Star
For hotels that are taking early steps toward more responsible sourcing.
Positive change starts with a decision to learn, engage, and improve. These hotels are demonstrating openness to progress by exploring better sourcing practices and considering how animal welfare can become part of their wider sustainability and responsibility goals.
By the next Benchmark, we encourage them to begin engaging with suppliers, assess their current egg sourcing, and establish a clear roadmap toward a cage-free transition.
Heartless
For hotels that have not made a cage-free commitment or shown meaningful progress.
These hotels have not made a public cage-free commitment, demonstrated meaningful progress, or engaged constructively with Animal Welfare League despite multiple opportunities to do so. As a result, they rank lowest in this year's Benchmark.
While Ghana’s hospitality sector is moving toward more responsible sourcing, these hotels have yet to demonstrate action on cage-free eggs. Guests increasingly expect hotels to reflect values of care, responsibility, and progress—not only in the experience they offer, but also in the choices behind it.
